A new Internet company is coming out soon and I have had the pleasure to be working with then on the branding and print design, the website should be going live soon. but here is the main designs that will be on the website and all packaging.

Cuba

So I've just got back from Cuba, what a strange country. The only place that America doesn't have its fingers in. In one scence I REALLY think that's awesome a brilliant change. But then when you look around there is poverty and no help, with America so close (about 90 miles away maximum) this shouldn't be going on.

A few things were missed when out there like normal brands that you would get in the UK. I especially missed the food here. I think this is just due to how used to branding and how reliant we are, trusting them only.

I will be uploading photos to my flickr account so keep a close eye. I will update again when I have done it.

Long time gone

So it has been a long time since my last post. This is just a pre-post, for when I can show what I have been doing over the summer. It's been exciting with the progression of the branding of the company. Although it sounds confusing It will all be explained in september.

Final

So its coming to an end university is finishing in around 7-8 hours its the final hand in. This is for the work experince it consists of a 2000 word essay. The hand-in finishes at 12:30.

last day at work experience

so the last day has come and almost gone today i got on with a brief called all things bright this is based on colour and the colour of the products . this was very enjoyable and cut out high res images changed the colour and lined them up giving them a reflection and a background. i have the print outs so will try ro scan them in and show you at a later date.

day 3

today was alot slower although i spoke to a few different peiple around the studio. i spoke to the manger of publishing, manager of POS. i then went to see the windows for Christmas. i finished the halloween pos and now waiting for a review of al my work.

End of day two

So the end of day two. I enjoyed today have almost finished the two leafleats and will have them signed off some time soon. need to finish the halloween POS. I need to change the colours see the different alternatives.

work placement

over the past two days I have been working at the john lewis creative studios. this is where the design for tje majority of the POS is produced. the y have given me 3 briefs. i am working on a leaflet for gift vouchers, a leaflet for gift wrapping and the look of the POS at halloween. I am waiting to have a crit or viewing of my work by Russell part of the art directing team.

Long Time Gone

Over the last few months it has been Extremely busy with University and home life, unfortunately this is why i haven't been blogging as much as I like. So I guess you will be asking what I have been doing over the past few months.

Well First late Feb I went to a conference called 'FOUR DESIGNERS' where there were a few designers spoke, these consisted of Companies like 'Someone In London' who did the O2 adverts and branding.

Then March I went to the V&A to see OneDotZero's Decode that is an interactive Digital Art exhibition I was amazed by the way art was being portrayed and thought it was inspirational bringing the consumer into the piece of work, to be personalized by them.

March was also the hand-in for my animation brief, I think it went well as I feel I had more research then before, the only issue was that because of my struggle coming up with a subject for an argument. this limited what I could do with the animation.

Now I have started my last Brief this is a layout brief bringing visual communication into the literal, this will look at typography, layout, baseline grids and many more. The subject we have been given is an interview from typeradio and i have been allocated a typographer called Christian Schwartz.

Also Now, I have started to read New Scientist, this is something that I feel can keep me entertained and a better understanding of w the new views on technology and science. Something I took from the Four Designers that I found all of the designers said keep involved with everything try and understand and be enthusiastic with as much as possible. New Scientist helps me with all this.

The Divine Comedy

Its been a long time since I posted anything on here. So heres what I've done. I've started looking at Adobe Flash again and this time started looking at Action Script 3.0. The work I have been doing is preparing my CV looking at design houses and studios as well as drawing up a storyboard for the new project of screen based work. This is where with my previous experience I should do well. But by the look of everyone else's work mine might not be as good. As I have struggled with the brief.

The main Idea of this Post was to show some of my influences at the moment. If you don't know already there is a new Xbox 360 game out called 'Dante's Inferno' the game is based on the book 'The Divine Comedy' from this it has lead me to want to learn more about this and really start to look at all the books within the series. 'The Divine Comedy' from what I'm aware is based over 3 Chapters or books. These are Inferno or Hell, Purgatory and Paradise. This idea has always intrigued me and am looking further to reading the books. I am putting the book on this post if you were wanting to read it too:

More influences have come in the form of music and film. In music there's The Temper Trap, Plan B, Peter Gabriel and Massive Attack. These are some new albums and I am still listening to the Sia albums. With film there's 'Blindness' an awesomely haunting film that truly starts you thinking about your own eye sight and baffles the senses to start to believe you are blind too.

I will try and keep up with posting now and keep you updated.
